The Safety Harbor Montessori Philosophy
The Montessori philosophy is at the center of everything we do at Safety Harbor Montessori Academy. With the Montessori approach and its curriculum at our core, we emphasize the rewards of learning that go hand-in-hand with an interesting, child-centered approach to education. Our classrooms and additional learning spaces encourage curiosity, independence, creative thought, compassion, a strong work ethic, and respect for both our local and global communities.
Built in 1995, Safety Harbor Montesori Academy has programs for children between the ages of two through fourteen. These provide a dynamic, continuous education from early childhood to adolescence. We are fortunate to enroll students of many religions and backgrounds from all over the world.
Each class has at least two teachers. In each of the classrooms, at least one of these teachers is a Montessori-certified instructor. In addition, over half of our teachers hold advanced degrees as well. Each teaching team creates a rich environment designed to optimize learning for their specific group of students. Rather than a "one size fits all" approach, our wonderful student-to-teacher ratio allows us to meet the needs of each individual student, wherever they may be in the educational process, and help them achieve success.
We are priveleged to help our teachers continue their own education and fully support this cause. We pay for our educators to continue graduate course work as well as attend conferences and workshops every year so that they can bring new knowledge and techniques to their students. Supporting the advanced education of our educators is a cornerstone of the Safety Harbor Montessori philosophy.
In addition to having a highly qualified and caring staff of educators, we also have a beautiiful campus that supports all aspects of learning. Our campus includes nine classrooms, a gymnasium, an art room, a media center, and a spacious outdoor environment that includes multiple gardens, playground space, courts and fields for team sports and a stable. Our facilities were designed specifically to meet the varying needs of each age group, following the strictest health and safety standards.
Convenient to both Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties, the campus is located in mid-Pinellas on McMullen Booth Road. Our east county location makes us equally accessible from Palm Harbor, Oldsmar, Westchase, Rocky Point and other areas of west Tampa.
With approximately 200 students in grades preschool through 8, we are committed to preparing our students to be successful both academically and personally, because we realize that the future depends on what each child experiences today.
