Terry Fortner, Preprimary & Primary Music Teacher

Born in Gainesville, Florida, Terry received a B.A. degree in Child Development from Berea College, Kentucky, and in 1986 was certified as a Montessori Teacher, 3-6 Level, by MTTI in Miami. She worked first as a classroom directress and then in 1992 started working as a music educator for Montessori early childhood programs. Terry has presented music classes at SHMA since 1995. This year she is the music educator for the pre-primary and 3-6 classes. She participates in a multitude of continuing education programs for sharing music and movement/dance with children, including ORFF Level I certification. Terry and her husband are regular volunteers at Caladesi Island State Park and sharing Caladesi Memories is Terry’s hobby. She enjoys giving back to help in her community in volunteer time as a way to acknowledge her gratitude for a Florida home and heritage.
